The former allocates $110 million to assist local governments in managing recovery loan interest, while the latter provides $100 million for various emergency recovery efforts, including agricultural assistance and unemployment support.
Additionally, the session clarified the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency’s authority to assist local jurisdictions in disaster recovery, ensuring that communities can effectively respond to future emergencies. With $240 million allocated to reduce local governments’ financial burdens during disaster recovery, this package signals a strong commitment to the resilience and recovery of affected communities.
The session also focused on public safety, particularly concerning immigration enforcement. The legislature enacted measures designed to strengthen Tennessee’s immigration laws, establishing a new Centralized Immigration Enforcement Division within the Department of Safety.
